ALL ABOUT YOUR FRONT ROW FANGIRL
My name is Kaitlin McKay and I’m a recent Public Relations and Digital Humanities graduate of the School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Oregon. I’m currently using my degree to run TikTok viral music campaigns to convert viral moments to growth on streaming platforms with Chaotic Good Projects.
You may be wondering why the music industry? Well, growing up surrounded by music, it was hard not to love it. I remember going to my first concert, The Beach Boys, when I was only 10 years old. I fell in love with live music at that show, and spent every Saturday after that saving up my allowances to buy concert tickets to Carly Rae Jepsen, David Archuleta, Charlie Puth and many more growing up.
As a fangirl working in the industry I am always looking to learn and understand the process of planning and running a tour-because of this I find myself almost judging artists’ live shows. How could they have done this better? Is their VIP package work the money and hype? Do they succeed in tying their live show to their brand? What kind of experience am I getting from this as a fan?
If you’ve found yourself curious about any of these things before you went to purchase tickets, or before heading to the show, then this is the place for you! This blog will be filled my reviews and marketing ideas of past concerts I have experienced as well as any big music news.
As of today I have been to over 100 different concerts and live music festivals all around the world, and I have no regrets. While every show has been memorable, my favorites will always be the ones with the most creative fan experiences.
I have loved every Harry Styles show I’ve been to because the atmosphere in the venue, and the connections I made with the fan around me were unlike any other concert experience. You could just tell how special the night was going to be before it even began. It’s because of experiences like this at shows like his that I want to work in the music industry. I want to create an unforgettable experience like this for fans around the world with their favorite artists.
The amount of people I’ve met, and life long connections I’ve made are lifechanging. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without live music, and the experiences I’ve had at every concert I’ve been to. I can’t wait to share my expertise, opinions and personal experiences with you.
With my hands-on experience in many leadership positions, talent coordination, experience with creating memorable events for fans, and artists, and a love for live music I hope to bring a different point of view to the music industry, as a fangirl myself.
